The Order of Love: the latest dispatch
Gillian Rose, "Love’s Work"
The title itself exemplifies my theme: love-and-reason-in-tension as a cultural trope. In this case, that trope extends to philosophy in the writing of Gillian Rose, a tremendous, impassioned sociologist and philosopher before cancer took her at the age of forty-eight.
New Traces Community Chat
We’d like to encourage everyone to join our new subscriber chat. This is a conversation space exclusively for subscribers—like a group chat exclusively for the Traces community. There, we share opportunities for creators, Traces community news, events of interest across Canada, and more! Read below for detailed instructions on how to join.
How to get started
Get the Substack app by clicking this link or the button below. New chat threads won’t be sent sent via email, so turn on push notifications so you don’t miss conversation as it happens. You can also access chat on the web.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
Thanks for reading the Ascension 2025 issue of Traces Journal! We hope you’ll read, share, like, comment, and become a paid subscriber (if you are able) to support our work.
Happy reading,
The Traces team.
