What I Have Gleaned
by Doris Fiszer
Wind can make you cry
from its sheer weight.
Birds scatter plucked feathers
in their cages.
Life: a speckled trout
flashing by.
Rain gathers
in a quiet thought.
My god, elusive, until a beam of light
breaks through the leaden sky.
A cure for sadness is to walk
as if you’re still going somewhere.
